melbourne marathon!!

what a day! just completed the 10km event at the melbourne marathon and it was a great run although it was quite crowded because the path we were running on was quite narrow. it was really exciting and i'm happy to have finished it under an hour! all the training has paid off. but i will have to keep it up for the standard chartered 10km which i'm running with eunice and my siblings!! yay! and i suddenly have the urge to do the full marathon next year, which means i have a year to train for it...

Singapore Day

Singapore Day today in Melbourne at Sidney Myer Music Bowl. Goody bags and free food were the highlights and needless to say every Singaporean there did what we all do best: queuing for freebies! LOL

It was a really nice day, bright and sunny, perfect for the event. Besides the free stuff, there were booths where different companies were looking to recruit people and also information about MINDEF and MOE, i guess for parents in Melbourne who might be deciding where their kids should study.

Needless to say photos going to be up on facebook!

spring break with friends!!

I had a great time at the beach today with my coursemates!!

We actually went down to St. Kilda Beach and we played a bit of frisbee before going rollerblading! I really enjoyed it, maybe cause I like the sun, got to do something outdoors-y and people watch. Facebook photos coming soon!

And after, we came back to my house for nandos and games (pictionary & uno) and also did quite a bit of drinking!! now, 3 of them are sleeping over at my place! LOL...

Holidays are coming to an end and I hope I can get more work done before it ends. And there is this Singapore Day thing happening this Saturday which I signed up for, hopefully it will be fun! Might blog about it after...

random musings...

So much has been going on since I last blogged! Firstly, the Olympics are over! There were so many awesome moments and performances which were breath-taking and so inspiring. I'm suffering from Olympic withdrawal symptoms, lol. No more free sport on tv - sad. Wish London 2012 will come soon! After this Olympic Games I suddenly feel like I wanna be a Olympic physiotherapist and be part of the team and experience and walk out on the track (my primary reason, lol).

Next is a big shock: Australian actor Mark Priestley took his own life fighting depression. If you guys follow Aussie tv, he is Dan in All Saints. It is really sad. Depression is really serious and some people don't even know they are depressed. It is important for those around to really pick up on the signs. Sometimes life is just hard and it can very well happen to any of us, and I think we should help and support one another during the tough times and not to run just because we are afraid of getting affected. The people around are really important and we should be more concerned with one another. I'm really feeling sad...

Ok off to another topic. School! Not very exciting because of all the studying and a test coming up on Monday. Got to study. We are having this physiofest event at school, and there is just so many areas that a physio can go into! I dunno what I wanna do! Everything seems so fun. And there is this thing about further studies now, everyone is like doing it. I'm scared! I dunno about my future, whether a Bachelor degree is enough. I guess that is still a while away and God will guide me through everything.

guess I better be studying! maybe after a nap...

wow, what a match!

Rafael Nadal vs Roger Federer at Wimbledon was truly amazing! Both players are great fighters seeing how Federer came back in 2 tie-breaks after being 2 sets down and how Nadal actually won the match after what I would consider devastating having let match points slip by and giving Federer a lifeline.

I was actually supporting Nadal for the first time and it was such a nail-biting experience! I couldn't believe it when he actually won the first two sets. But when he lost the next two, I thought the final would be over and Federer would go on to win his sixth title. I was feeling disappointed. How wrong was I! Nadal showed great strength and confidence. I was feeling so nervous for him! I can't imagine how he felt! It was a great match and both deserved to win but I had a feeling that Nadal would win and he did : )

Well Nadal has really improved his game these few years and it is much nicer to watch compared to the past. I didn't like him when he first burst onto the scene but I must say that has totally changed maybe because he has been around and has revealed more of himself over the years and he is actually a nice guy!

It would have been history-making if Federer won his six consecutive Wimbledon but Nadal winning his first Wimbledon over Federer is pretty special too. He has worked so hard and totally deserved it. Who would have thought, the four-time French open champion winning his first Wimbledon, a truly significant moment in the history of the sport. Will this mark the start of the end of Federer's reign at the top?
